Elegabiltity

  

We help families across the UK who are raising a child or young person that has been diagnosed with some form of cancer aged 17 or under. You can apply to Adele’s Princess Wish if:

  • You live in England, Northern Ireland,      Scotland or Wales.
  • You are the parent or carer of a child or      young person aged 0-17 who is diagnosed with cancer and lives with you.      (medical records may be requested)
  • You are currently living in the UK and done so      for at least six months, or three months if your child is less than six      months old. You are eligible to work and apply for public funds
  • Your child is not in Local Authority care
  • You can supply two references.

You must meet all Adele’s Princess Wish eligibility criteria in order to be considered for a grant.

  

Adele’s Princess Wish uses its own Child and Young Person’s Eligibility Criteria to assess a child or young person’s need for grant funding. 

Children/young people and their family’s needs arising from a diagnosis of cancer meet these criteria where:

  • There is evidence that the child/ren’s illness      impacts on family’s choices and the illness is having a direct impact on      the family’s financial situation.

and

  • They require a high level of      additional support in three or more of the Five Adele’s Princess Wish      areas of support below.

and

  • Their condition is long term or life limiting      (by long term we mean lasting or likely to last 12 months or more).

  

Adele’s Princess Wish areas of support

Due to the diagnosis of cancer your child/ren or you the family should require support in at least three of the five areas below:

  • Travel Fares- we mean train, bus, taxi or petrol expenses whenever the child/ren has to travel to medical      appointments.
  • Access to social activities – we mean things  like engaging socially and taking part in activities to assist with the      rehabilitation of the child/ren.
  • Parent/carers time off from work, -we mean when parents or carers need time off work to take the child/ren to medical      appointments and for up to 10 hours per week for looking after the child/ren.
  • Mental health support - we mean paying for counselling for parents and or the child/ren. Up to 1 session a week.
  • Nutritional support-we mean if parents need to purchase specialist nutrition to assist with the rehabilitation of the      child/ren, up to £50 a weekGive customers a reason to do business with you.
